The Cuza Vodă Trademark is named after Alexandru Ioan Cuza, a remarkable historical figure and the first ruling prince of the united principalities of Moldavia and Wallachia.
The Moldovan Cuza Vodă divin appeared on the local market in 2005 and nowadays includes three series of products:
– Classic: divins VS, VSOP and XO, aged for 3, 5 and 7 years in Caucasian oak barrels. Light divins, with floral aromatic bouquets and palettes dominated by soft caramel and vanilla sensations.
– Biography: VSOP and XO divins aged for 5, 7 and 10 years in French oak barrels. Elegant divins with complex aromatic bouquets, noble body, and balanced tannin texture.
– Premium: XO divins aged for 10, 12 and 15 years in French oak barrels in the Limousin region. Refined divins with deep authentic aromatic bouquets, produced from carefully selected blends, in perfect accordance with the best traditions.
The Cuza Vodă divins are produced on the basis of young, white wines, with a neutral aromatic profile, being especially preferred the Aligoté variety (brought to Bessarabia by the winemaker Constantin Mimi), Chardonnay, Feteasca Albă and other European varieties. The distillates are produced in a special column modernized in 2010 by specialists from France. It is made of copper, which provides a significant contribution to the divins’ quality.
